INMA brings Indian passion to Vienna

September 4, 2008 by grzegorz.piechota

Lead India: an inspirational campaign by the Times of IndiaRahul Kansal, chief marketing officer at the Times of India, will be a special guest of the INMA Outlook 2009: European Conference in Vienna on October 1-3, 2008.

He will discuss the groundbreaking editorial and marketing campaign, “Lead India,” which was awarded this year the Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival as well as the ”The Best of Show” at the Annual INMA Awards competition

The Times of India’s award-winning corporate social responsibility campaign calls for a new generation to “Lead India” as the world’s largest democracy celebrates 60 years of independence. More than 34,000 readers went on to participate in a contest that ended with a 10-week talent show for political hopefuls. Public interviews and debates helped The Times of India to drag citizens’ attention to the most important issues of their country. The newspaper is now extending this campaign toward teaching unprivileged children.

“One of India’s major contributions to the ‘INMA conversation’ worldwide is how its newspapers create corporate social responsibility campaigns and link them to their strategic brand development. Really amazing stuff,” says Earl Wilkinson, INMA’s executive director.

Look at these two television spots to get a flavour of “Lead India” campaign:

Mr. Kansal from the Times of India will be interviewed at the INMA conference in Vienna on Thursday, October 2, in an interactive session titled “Newsmedia That Is Relevant to Society: Editors Who Are No Longer Aliens.”

The session will be hosted by two editors of forum4editors.com working for Poland’s Gazeta Wyborcza:  Grzegorz Piechota and Jerzy Wojcik. Their editorial innovations in the past two years achieved circulation and online traffic increases, improved reader participation and won awards from INMA, the World Association of Newspapers and IFRA.

Newly launched forum4editors.com, a web site for creative minds at newspapers, serves as the networking site for this session. The best case studies submitted to the website will be presented in Vienna.

The INMA European conference will bring together several hundred newsmedia executives from throughout Europe, and 100+ of your peers have already pre-registered. For complete programme information and to register today, go to the INMA site.
